Orbital Technologies is currently seeking experienced C++ software developers to join our team.

Required Qualifications:

• B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent
• Proficiency in C and C++ programming: a minimum of one year full time experience, where C++ was the primary programming language
• 1 - 3 years experience as a software developer
• Good command of English with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Flexibility to work on different types of software development, as requested by our clients
• Object-oriented design and programming skills
• Experience with UML (Class Diagrams and Sequence Diagrams)
• Relational database design skills
• Passion to learn
• Drive to succeed

The following additional qualifications would be an asset:

• Software design experience
• Knowledge of software engineering practices and quality processes

Software Quality Assurance Lead

The Software QA Lead is an individual with a bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science, and with knowledge of a wide variety of technological domains. The position will rely on your experience with the Systems Development Life Cycle for systems developed using C++, C#, Java and C. A thorough understanding of the various core technologies of Microsoft Windows, Unix, Linux and the Macintosh is crucial. A good understanding of the test requirements for embedded and database software would be ideal.

You will have expert knowledge and practical experience in the Software QA process. Additionally, you will have a proven track record of leading a team of QA specialists for multiple simultaneous projects. You will be expected to develop, establish, integrate and evolve the QA process in conjunction with Orbital’s Software Engineering groups to ensure on-going improvements in the quality of delivered software.

The QA Lead role will report directly to the Vice President of Engineering.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the QA group
• QA resource allocation for multiple projects
• Enforcement of QA process and procedures
• Review and approval of test plans and test cases
• Continuous monitoring and mentoring of QA team

Required skills and experience:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Expert understanding of software quality processes and tools
• Expert understanding of core technologies of Windows, Unix, Linux and Mac OS X
• 2+ years of QA Lead experience
• 2+ years of Leading team of 4 or 5 QA specialists
• 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing test strategies, plans and assets
• 5+ years of experience in working with Software Configuration Management tools and build systems
• 2+ years of experience with Relational Databases and SQL
• Proven ability to work in conjunction with SW engineering teams

Assets:

• Experience with embedded software – especially Symbian via S60 or UIQ
• Experience with ODBC and OLAP products and software
• Experience in C++, C#, Java and C development
• Experience in working on simultaneous projects spanning different domains
