Orbital Technologies Donates Funds for Second Computing Science Scholarship at SFU
Vancouver, BC – October 2, 2007 – Orbital Technologies Inc., a leading Vancouver-based software development services firm, announced today that it has donated an additional $10,000 to an endowment to fund the Orbital Technologies Inc. Scholarship in Computing Science at Simon Fraser University. This latest donation doubles Orbital’s endowment at SFU to $20,000 since 2003.
The Orbital Technologies Inc. Scholarship in Computing Science was established at SFU to provide a cash award to outstanding students majoring in Computing Science. The award may be used to help pay for tuition, books or living expenses.
“Orbital prides itself on its philanthropy and its objective of giving back to the community in which it operates,” said Bill Dorfmann, VP, Engineering of Orbital Technologies Inc. “With this additional donation, it is our hope to increase the frequency of Orbital’s scholarship awards at SFU. Orbital develops software for many of the world’s leading software and technology companies from its Vancouver office. Many of our people were educated at BC universities, and Orbital’s scholarships allow us an opportunity to give back and foster continued growth of local talent, such as that produced by SFU’s excellent Computing Science Program.”
Since 2005, Orbital’s SFU scholarship has been awarded once per year to an outstanding student demonstrating strong academic performance and documented community service – with preference given to female candidates. However, the increased endowment is expected to soon fund two awards per year.

Orbital’s latest donation is a testament to the industry support and recognition of our Computing Science Program and our students.”
The Orbital Technologies Inc. Scholarship in Computing Science is administered by the University’s Student Services Financial Assistance office.
Orbital has established similar scholarships at the University of British Columbia and the University of Victoria.
